Day 6

Another day, another curry😂

I thought today’s dinner was going to be a disaster. At first, my lentils were too salty so I added a bit more water. Then I thought adding the slightest bit of sugar may help but I thought it made things worse😑

My mum froze some okra because see thought I wouldn’t use them from the fridge and they would go off. I usually eat fresh okra. I think because they came straight out of the freezer, they didn’t cook as normal. They ended up looking burnt😑

However, after all of this…dinner turned out to be delicious.

I think I will just have to accept that anything I ever cook tastes better than it looks..

Day 5

It’s been another day GFrees.

I am loving the gluten free kitchen life!

Today, I had 2 cheese and tomato sandwiches (because although the schar gluten free bread is so amazing and tasty-the slices are pretty small).

For dinner, I had chickpea curry with jeera rice..

What’s your favourite curry?

Day 4

Just a quick update.

Today, I had chips and beans for lunch from the canteen at work.

Followed by a potato and mango curry with jeera rice for dinner..

I really must start taking better pictures😐 But just in case you haven’t realised already – I pretty much love and live on curry and rice🙄 (often sneaking in a pizza)

Day 1

Hey GFrees!

I’m so excited. I have a (gluten free) kitchen all to myself for 3 whole weeks!

I made spicy moong dal or MUG as us Gujarati’s call it. My mum’s mum used to make it every Monday – “Mug Monday’s” and so we like to have it on Monday’s also 🙂

It was delicious! (and I made plenty so I know what’s for lunch tomorrow 😊)

So I’ve been feeling a little under the weather for the past couple of days..just the seasonal flu but I’m not going to can make you feel so weak. I’ve been thinking about some of the foods I’ve had to leave behind and had that sudden realisation that I’ll never be able to eat them again. Well I could find an alternative but alternatives never taste the same do they?! Even the gluten-free bread is nowhere near to tasty as the normal (but now lethal, toxic and deadly) bread. I’m finding it difficult to discover something tasty but also something that I can just quickly grab on the go or something that I don’t have to spend a lot of time cooking. I guess it’s healthier this way but when you’re feeling a bit poorly, the quick-fix meals can help (& I guess it’d mean that I wouldn’t need to bug my mum so much).

Having been able to eat properly today, my mum made me her amazing Kidney Bean & Potato Soup/Curry…

As per was absolutely delicious! It definitely made me forget about everything I can’t eat! and it even worked wonders on my sore throat and blocked nose 😀

Are there any foods you miss? Or should I ask, what food(s) do you miss the most? What were your comfort food(s)? Can you still eat them? If not, have you found something similar and how is it?
